Corrective Action Plan

The Corrective Action Plan documents remediation work for audit findings or compliance gaps and assigns each item to an owner. Severity levels help prioritise critical issues while completion timestamps build an auditable trail. Keeping plans on the record standardises follow-up across suppliers and factories until findings are closed.

Quick Check - Before You Start
  • Open the compliance record that contains the findings you are remediating.
  • Know who will own each action and whether the issue is Critical, Major, or Minor before adding rows.

Fields and Descriptions

Field Description
Type The severity level of the issue: Critical, Major, and Minor.
Description A clear, concise summary of the issue or the corrective action required.
Owner The person or team member responsible for implementing the corrective action.
Completed Displays the date of completion and the name of the user who marked the item as complete.

Adding a Corrective Action

  1. Click the plus (+) icon to add a new row to the plan.
  2. Select a Type from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter a Description of the issue or the required action.
  4. Assign an Owner who will be responsible for the task.

  1. Locate the action item you wish to mark as complete.
  2. Click the tick icon in the first column.
  3. The Completed field will be populated automatically with the current date and your user name.

Troubleshooting

I added a row but the owner or type is wrong—can I fix it?

Edit the row’s Type, Description, or Owner before the item is completed. After completion, the Completed field shows date and user; if you need to reverse a completion, use your organisation’s process (e.g. add a new corrective action noting the correction).

The tick icon does not appear to do anything—what should I check?

Click the tick in the first column on the correct row. The Completed field should fill with today’s date and your user name. If it does not, refresh the page and ensure you have permission to update the compliance record.

How do I prove remediation for audits?

Use clear Description text, optionally with links to evidence elsewhere in the system, and rely on Completed timestamps and owners. For critical issues, add a separate verification row assigned to another person, as described in the tips on this page.

Helpful Tips

  • In the Description field, encourage users to include links to supporting evidence stored elsewhere in the system (e.g., a link to a specific policy document or a non-compliant sample). This creates a direct connection between the problem and the required action, saving time during reviews.
  • For critical issues, consider adding a second, un-ticked action item immediately below the first, with the description "Verify corrective action for [issue above]." Assign this to a manager or a different team member. This introduces a peer-review or verification step, ensuring that the fix is effective before the issue is fully closed.
  • Create reports or dashboard widgets that filter for corrective actions where the owner has been assigned but the task remains incomplete for a long period. This helps managers identify bottlenecks or team members who may need additional support, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.
