Critical Path
The Critical Path defines, assigns, and tracks milestone tasks inside a compliance workflow so nothing critical slips. Apply templates from Site Settings or add activities manually to balance standard processes with one-off audits. Each activity carries scheduling, status, and ownership so overdue work is visible and accountability stays clear.

Quick Check - Before You Start
- Open the compliance record whose critical path you need to edit.
- Decide whether you will apply a template from the dropdown (when creating or as applicable) or add activities manually with the plus (+) icon.
Compliance vs. Style and Order Critical Paths
Unlike Style > Critical Path and Order > Critical Path, the Compliance critical path is simplified and only allows users to add activities. It does not include:
- Approval and Rejection
- Activity Group
- Condition
- Reference date
- Days +/-
- Date column
How to Add Critical Path Activities
There are two ways to add activities:
- From a Template: Select a pre-configured template from the Critical Path dropdown when creating a new compliance record. This automatically populates the list with standard tasks.
- Manually: Click the plus (+) icon to add a new, custom activity row. You can add manual tasks even if you have already applied a template.
Templates Are a Starting Point
Applying a template is a one-time action. Any changes you make to the activities here (adding, editing, or deleting) will not affect the original template in Site Settings.

Helpful Tips
- Use Templates for Consistency: For recurring compliance checks (such as annual audits), create a template in Site Settings to ensure the same steps are followed every time.
- Assign Every Task: Make sure every activity has an owner in the Assigned To field to ensure clear accountability.
- Monitor Overdue Tasks: Regularly filter or report on tasks with a Red status to identify potential delays in your compliance schedule.

Troubleshooting
Why is the critical path empty on a new compliance record?
Critical path activities are populated from the template configured in Site Settings > Compliance > Critical Path. If no template exists, the critical path will be empty.
Steps to resolve:
- Navigate to Site Settings > Compliance > Critical Path
- Verify a template with activities has been created
- Create a new compliance record to pick up the template
Why are overdue tasks not highlighted in red?
Status colours are based on due dates. If a task has no due date set, it cannot be flagged as overdue.
Steps to resolve:
- Open each critical path activity and confirm a Due Date is set
- Tasks without due dates will show as grey or neutral
- Set due dates on all activities to enable status colour tracking
