Helpful information
-
Always Use a Fresh Template: Before starting a new import, always download a fresh copy of the import template. System administrators may update the template with new fields or change validation rules. Using the latest version ensures your import file is compliant and reduces the risk of errors caused by outdated formatting.
-
Prepare and Verify Your Data Offline: Before uploading, take the time to carefully prepare and verify your data in the spreadsheet. Double-check that all required fields are populated and that the data in dropdown-based columns (like Type, Supplier, and Brand) exactly matches the values configured in Site Settings. This proactive step can prevent most common import errors.
-
Use the Import Summary for Troubleshooting: After each import, make it a habit to download and review the Import Summary. This file is crucial for identifying any rows that failed to import and understanding the reason for the failure. Use the feedback in the summary to correct your data and re-import any failed rows, ensuring a complete and accurate dataset.

Troubleshooting
Why is Import Component missing from the menu?
Access is limited to users with create permission for components.
Steps to resolve:
- Ask an administrator to grant component create access for your role.
- Refresh the session or sign in again after permissions are updated.
Many rows failed with validation errors—what is the usual cause?
Dropdown-driven fields (Type, Season, Supplier, Brand, Currency, etc.) must match Site Settings and existing master data exactly.
Steps to resolve:
- Cross-check each dropdown column against Site Settings.
- Remove extra spaces; align spelling and casing with the system lists.
- Download the Import Summary, fix the reported rows, and re-import.
I used an old spreadsheet—could that break the import?
Templates can gain columns or validation rules over time. Old files may omit required fields or use outdated column layouts.
Steps to resolve:
- Download a new template from Import Component for every import.
- Copy data into the new file column-for-column.
- Run the import again and review the Import Summary.
