Component Costing History
The Costing History section provides a centralised and chronological view of all costing records associated with a specific component. It offers full transparency, enabling quick access to historical costing data for auditing, pricing analysis, and product development. Use it to compare component cost movements across suppliers and time periods when negotiating or revising bills of materials.

Located in the sidebar of a component record, this section displays a complete list of all costings linked to that component. It allows you to track cost fluctuations over time and access detailed costing records whenever needed.
Core Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Costing Creation | Every time a costing is saved for a component, a new entry is automatically added to its Costing History. |
| Chronological View | Entries are listed in chronological order, showing all costing versions for the component. |
| Access Shortcut | Clicking the Costing History link takes you directly to the main Costing Search page. |
Viewing Costing History
- Selecting the Costing History link opens the Costing Search page, with the results automatically pre-filtered to show only the costings for the current component.
- This provides a streamlined way to review a component's pricing evolution without manual filtering.
Filtering Behaviour
If you apply a new filter on the Costing Search page, the initial component-specific filter will be cleared. The results will then display costings from across the entire system based on your new criteria.
Best Practices
- Benchmark Supplier Performance: Use the historical data to compare pricing and consistency across different suppliers for the same component, helping you make more informed procurement decisions.
- Inform Product Development: When developing new products, consult the costing history of similar components to create more accurate initial cost estimates and budgets.
- Track Costing Completeness: Regularly review the costing history to ensure that all relevant costs (e.g., freight, duty, overheads) have been consistently included over time, preventing hidden costs from impacting profitability.
