Component Label
The Label feature allows you to tag components with flexible, user-defined labels. This is perfect for streamlining filtering, improving organisation, and providing quick visual identification across the platform. Labels support component classification—such as fibre group, finish, or commodity type—so procurement and design can slice the library consistently.

Labels help you categorise components by function, material type, status, or any other criteria your team defines. Each label can be colour-coded and reordered to match your specific workflows and preferences.
Core Actions
These actions are available to all users with access to the component record and allow for basic label management.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Add Label | Hover over the component's preview image and click the Add Label button that appears. In the pop-up window, select an existing label from the list or create a new label directly, then click to apply the selected label to the component. |
| Remove Label | Open the label pop-up and deselect the checkbox next to the label you wish to remove. The label will be instantly removed from the component and the Add Label button will display in your preview image. |
| Edit Label | Rename or change the colour of an existing label. |
| Delete Label | Permanently remove a label from the list of available options. |
| Reorder Labels | Drag and drop to reorganise the order of labels for dropdown consistency across all users. |
Label Management
These features help organise and maintain your labelling system effectively.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Colour Coding | Assign a colour to each label for quick visual identification across the platform. Colours can be customised when creating or editing a label. |
| Dropdown Order | The order of labels in the dropdown is consistent for all users. Use drag and drop in the label management area to set the preferred order. |
| Label Creation | Create new labels directly from the label pop-up when adding a label to a component, or manage the full list of available labels from the label management area. |
Important Notes When Using Labels
Label Deletion: Deleting a label permanently removes it from the list of available options. Components that had this label applied will no longer display it. Consider whether the label is in use before deleting.
Label Consistency: To prevent the label list from becoming cluttered with duplicate or inconsistent tags, consider restricting the ability to create new labels to administrators or team leads. This maintains a clean and effective labelling system for everyone.
Filtering: Labels are a powerful tool for filtering. Use them to isolate a group of components and then perform bulk actions like updating a field or deleting them, saving significant time.
Best Practices
Develop a Labelling Guide: Create a shared document or guide that defines what each label means and when it should be used. This ensures that everyone on your team applies labels consistently, making them more reliable for filtering and reporting.
Use Labels to Drive Bulk Actions: Labels are a powerful tool for filtering. Use them to isolate a group of components (e.g., all components with the "Archive" label) and then perform bulk actions like updating a field or deleting them, saving significant time.
Restrict Label Creation: To prevent the label list from becoming cluttered with duplicate or inconsistent tags, consider restricting the ability to create new labels to administrators or team leads. This maintains a clean and effective labelling system for everyone.
