Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
This document provides detailed instructions on how to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your 3 Clicks account.
Quick Check - Before You Start
- Install a supported authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy) on your phone or device.
- Open My Profile > Security while you have time to complete QR scan and verification in one session.
- Prepare a secure place to store recovery codes (password manager, encrypted file, or offline backup).
Steps to Set Up MFA
- Go to My Profile > Security in your account settings.
-
Click the "Enable MFA" button to begin the set up process.

-
Scan the displayed QR code with your preferred authenticator app, or use the manual entry code as an alternative method.
-
Enter the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app to complete the setup.

-
Securely store your recovery codes for future account recovery. You can do this by:
- Directly copying the codes
- Downloading the codes to a single file

By following these steps, you will successfully set up MFA for your 3 Clicks account.

Helpful Tips for Setting Up MFA
- Choose a Reliable Authenticator App: Select a reputable authenticator app that you trust and that offers backup and recovery options. Popular choices include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy.
- Test Your Recovery Codes: After setting up MFA, test your recovery codes to ensure they work correctly. This will give you peace of mind knowing that you can regain access to your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Troubleshooting
Why does the QR code or manual code not work in my authenticator app?
Clock skew, camera blur, or choosing the wrong account slot in the app can prevent a successful enrolment.
Steps to resolve:
- Ensure the device time is set automatically and try scanning the QR code again in good light.
- Use manual entry with the code shown on screen if scanning fails.
- Remove any half-added 3 Clicks entry from the authenticator app before retrying.
Why is my 6-digit code rejected when I finish setup?
Codes rotate every short interval; entering an expired code or mistyping digits causes failure.
Steps to resolve:
- Wait for a fresh code in the authenticator app and enter it immediately.
- Confirm you are editing the correct 3 Clicks account entry if you have multiple tenants or logins.
- If codes never work, restart setup from Enable MFA after clearing the bad authenticator entry.
What if I did not save recovery codes during setup?
Recovery codes are required to regain access if you lose your authenticator device; missing codes increase lockout risk.
Steps to resolve:
- Complete setup again if the UI still offers recovery code download or copy before closing the wizard.
- If you already finished, use Managing MFA Settings (if your organisation allows) to regenerate or view codes.
- Contact your administrator if you are locked out or codes cannot be reissued from self-service.
