Create a Shipment

Use the Create function to initiate a new shipment and enter key logistics data such as origin, destination, and estimated dates as the first step in fulfilment. Once the record exists, you can assign orders and track progress through the shipping workflow. Ensure Site Settings > Shipping lists are configured so mandatory dropdowns validate when you save.

Quick Check - Before You Start
  • Confirm Site Settings > Shipping lists are set up for Shipment Method, Origin, Destination, and Freight Status
  • Gather planned ETD, ETA, and any Container reference you need before opening the create form

How to Create a Shipment

Step Description
1 Click the Create button in the top navigation bar.
2 Select Shipment from the dropdown menu.
3 In the pop-up form, complete all mandatory fields.
4 Click Add to finalise and create the new shipment record.

Once a shipment is created, you can begin adding and assigning orders to it for fulfilment and tracking.

Creating Shipments from Orders

When creating a shipment from an order (by clicking Create > Shipment from within an order), no orders are automatically added to the shipment. You must manually add orders to the shipment as needed.

Troubleshooting

Why are shipment dropdowns empty or showing errors?

Shipment Method, Origin, Destination, and Freight Status are driven by Site Settings > Shipping. If options are missing, creation can fail validation or leave fields incomplete.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Open Site Settings > Shipping and configure each list (method, origin, destination, freight status).
  2. Retry Create > Shipment and select values from the populated dropdowns.
I created a shipment from an order—why are no orders on the shipment?

Creating a shipment from within an order does not attach that order automatically; you must add orders to the shipment yourself.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Open the shipment record after creation.
  2. Add and assign the required orders using your usual shipment workflow.
Why is my shipment number rejected or inconsistent in search?

Shipment Number may be auto-generated or manual depending on your setup. Duplicate or invalid formats can block save or confuse filtering.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Use a unique identifier that matches your site’s numbering rules.
  2. If numbers are system-generated, leave the field blank or follow the pattern shown in Shipping > General Settings if applicable.
