Audit Type
The Audit Type section allows users to define and manage categories that classify different types of audits conducted within the platform. These categories help segment audits for better organisation, filtering, and reporting.
Audit types provide high-level classification for audits such as Factory Assessment, Social Compliance, or Technical Inspection. Standardising these types ensures traceability and consistency across dashboards and export views.
The Audit Type section enables you to create and maintain a comprehensive catalogue of audit classifications that can be applied across all compliance records. These types help teams categorise audits systematically, making it easier to track specific audit categories, generate targeted reports, and maintain compliance documentation standards.

Quick Check - Before You Start
- You can edit Site Settings › Compliance › Audit Type
- Map names to how external auditors label engagements (for example Social, Technical)
- Disable retired programmes instead of deleting when history must stay readable

Delete Audit Type
Common Pitfall
Deleting a type breaks classification on existing audits. Disable when the programme ends but records remain open to regulators.
- Single delete: Click the trashcan icon next to an audit type and confirm the deletion.
- Bulk delete: Use checkboxes to select multiple audit types, then confirm deletion.
Other Actions
- Filter – View audit types by status (Enabled or Disabled).

- History – Export a detailed log of audit type changes and version history for auditing purposes.

- Export – Download the complete list of audit types in
.xlsxformat.
Table Flexibility
Users can tailor the table layout using the following controls:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Sort by Ascending or Descending | Reorder audit types by Description or Status. |
| Pin Column | Lock important columns in place while scrolling. |
| Autosize This Column | Automatically resize the specific column to fit their content. |
| Autosize All Columns | Applies autosizing on all columns. |
| Choose Columns | Show or hide individual table columns. |
| Reset Columns | Return the table to the default configuration. |
Tips
- Use clear naming conventions for audit types to make them easy to filter and assign across different compliance records, especially when coordinating with external auditors.
- Archive or disable unused audit types instead of deleting them to preserve historical data integrity and maintain audit trails.
- Use exports for weekly progress reviews and compliance audits to track audit type distribution and completion rates.
- Regularly review audit type lists to ensure they align with current compliance requirements and regulatory changes.
- Document audit type purposes and expected outcomes to help team members understand their classification criteria.
- Use consistent terminology across audit types to improve searchability and reporting accuracy.
