Shipping Method

The Shipping Method section allows users to define and manage available transportation methods used for fulfilling shipments.

Defining shipping methods provides structure and clarity across documentation, purchase orders, and shipping dashboards. Each method can be tied to specific origins, destinations, or product categories to ensure accurate planning and reporting.

Quick Check - Before You Start
  • Standardise labels with your freight forwarders (Air - DHL, Sea - FCL) before publishing to operations.
  • Export the method list before bulk cleanup during carrier changes.
  • Disable retired methods instead of deleting when old shipments still reference them.

Managing Shipping Methods

Add New Shipping Method

  1. Click the Add New button at the top left.
  2. Enter the shipping method name (e.g., Air Freight, LCL Sea, Express Courier).
  3. Click Save to create the new shipping method.

  1. Click the pen icon beside the shipping method to make changes.
  2. Update the method name or attributes.
  3. Click Save to apply changes.

Click the trashcan icon and confirm the deletion.

  • Filter – View shipping methods by Enabled or Disabled status.
  • Export – Download the list of shipping methods in .xlsx format.
  • History – Export the change log for review and auditing.

Table Flexibility

Customise how your shipping methods are displayed using the following table options:

Sort by Sort alphabetically or by most recently edited.
Pin Column Lock essential columns while scrolling horizontally.
Autosize Column Automatically adjust column widths based on content.
Choose Columns to Display Show or hide specific fields to streamline the view.
Reset Columns Revert the table to the default column configuration.

  • Disable shipping methods instead of deleting to preserve history for past shipments.
  • Periodically audit and export shipping methods to support logistics optimisation efforts.

Troubleshooting

Why is a shipping method missing when I create a shipment?

Disabled methods are excluded from new selections.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Filter to All in Site Settings › Shipping › Shipping Method.
  2. Enable the row or add a new label for the replacement carrier service.
Why do reports show an old method name after I renamed a row?

Historical shipments keep the label that was valid at creation time.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Communicate that rename affects new usage; past rows may still display the prior text depending on reporting logic.
  2. Add a brand-new method if you must distinguish old vs new service levels in analytics.
How do I prepare for a carrier consolidation project?

Combine exports with history before changes.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Download Export and History for baseline evidence.
  2. Disable redundant methods after shipments in flight finish using the old codes.
