Colour

The Colour section allows you to define and manage a master list of colours used across all styles. Maintaining a standardised set of colours ensures consistency in design, production, and reporting, and is essential for accurate SKU generation and sales analysis.

Colours are linked to styles during product creation and are often used for SKU generation, planning, and order splitting. Properly managing colour definitions ensures that the same naming, codes, and visibility settings are used across the platform, preventing data entry errors and improving workflow efficiency.

Quick Check - Before You Start
  • You can edit Site Settings › Style › Colour
  • Agree colour name and code rules with design, production, and sales
  • Prefer Disable for seasonal colours that should remain on old SKUs

Pro tips
  • Standardise Naming and Codes: Use a consistent naming convention (e.g., Soft Pink, Cobalt Blue) and a logical format for colour codes (e.g., PNK, CBL). This is crucial for accurate SKU generation and reporting.
  • Archive, Don't Delete: It is best practice to Disable unused or seasonal colours instead of deleting them. This preserves the data integrity of past styles and orders associated with those colours.
  • Link to Pantone or Other Standards: Use a dedicated field to store official Pantone codes or other industry colour standards. This ensures that design, development, and production teams are all referencing the exact same colour specifications.

Troubleshooting

Why does the wrong colour appear on orders or SKUs?

Multiple similar names or codes can map to the wrong selection.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Export the colour master list
  2. Disable duplicates and keep one canonical code
  3. Update styles or BOMs that still point at retired codes
Why is a colour missing from dropdowns?

It is likely Disabled.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Open Site Settings › Style › Colour
  2. Use Filter to show Disabled records and enable if it should be selectable again
How do buyers match lab dips to system colours?

Steps to resolve:
