Custom Fields
The Custom Fields section enables you to extend the default style structure by defining your own data fields. This allows you to capture unique information specific to your business processes, from internal tracking codes to regional compliance requirements.
Custom fields are organised into sections and support various input types, including text, date, number, dropdown, and multi-select. Once created, these fields appear in the style interface and can be used for filtering, reporting, and exporting, ensuring all relevant data is captured in one place.
Managing Custom Fields
You can easily add, edit, and delete custom fields to tailor the platform to your needs.
Add a Custom Field
- Click the Add New button in the top left corner.
- Enter a Section Name to group related fields (e.g., Compliance Info, Internal Tags).
- Define the Field Name (the label users will see).
- Choose the Field Type (e.g., Free Text, Dropdown, Multi-select).
- For dropdowns, add the selectable values.
- Click Save to add the new field.
Edit a Custom Field
- Click the pencil icon next to the field you wish to modify.
- Update the name, type, or values as needed.
- Click Save to confirm your changes.
Delete Custom Fields
Common Pitfall
Deleting a custom field removes all values stored on styles. Disable the field when you must hide it but keep historical answers.
Custom Fields can now be deleted even when they are already in use across Styles. When a Custom Field is deleted, all associated data is removed at the same time, ensuring the system remains clean and consistent.
- Single Delete: Click the trash can icon next to a field and confirm the action to remove it.
- Bulk Delete: Select the checkboxes for multiple fields, then click the delete button that appears at the top of the table.
Disable a Custom Field
You can disable a field to hide it from users without deleting it.
- Click the status toggle in the table row to change the status from Enabled to Disabled.
- Alternatively, this can be done within the edit pop-up window.
Toolbar Actions
The toolbar provides several options for managing your custom fields:
- Export: Download the list of all custom fields in
.xlsxformat. - History: Export a log of all field additions, edits, and deletions for auditing purposes.
Customising the Table View
The custom fields table can be customised to suit your preferences using the following controls:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Sort by | Reorder fields alphabetically or by creation date. |
| Pin Column | Lock key columns in view while scrolling. |
| Autosize Column | Fit column widths to content automatically. |
| Show/Hide Columns | Choose which columns to display to create a tailored view. |
| Reset Columns | Restore the table to its default layout. |
Pro tips
- Use Dropdowns for Consistency: For fields where you need standardised data (e.g., Fabric Composition, Country of Origin), use the Dropdown or Multi-select field types. This prevents typos and ensures clean data for reporting.
- Organise with Sections: Group related fields under clear Section Names (e.g., Marketing, Logistics, Compliance). This keeps the style interface tidy and helps users find information quickly.
- Disable, Don't Delete: It is best practice to Disable fields that are no longer in use instead of deleting them. This preserves any historical data entered into those fields on existing styles.
