Spec Template
The Specification Template section enables you to create and manage reusable measurement templates for your styles. These templates, often called "spec sheets," define the POMs (Point of Measure), grading rules, and tolerances that form the foundation of technical development.

By creating master templates, you can standardise measurements across similar product types (e.g., Men's Tees, Women's Denim). This ensures consistency, reduces manual data entry, and provides clear instructions for pattern makers, sample rooms, and factories.
The Specification Templates section allows you to build a consistent set of measurement standards that can be applied across styles. These templates help ensure that critical technical specifications are not overlooked and provide traceability throughout the design and production workflow.

Quick Check - Before You Start
- You can edit Site Settings › Style › Specification Template
- Configure or confirm Size Scales before linking templates to a scale
- Know your Reference Size, Unit, and POM naming rules so measurements stay consistent
Managing Specification Templates

- Click the Add New button at the top left.
- Enter the required fields.
- Click Save to create the new template.

Delete Specification Template
Common Pitfall
Deleting a template can break traceability for styles that were built from it. Disable templates you no longer assign to new styles when you must keep historical spec data.
- Single delete: Click the trashcan icon next to a template and confirm the action to remove it.

- Bulk delete: Select multiple templates using the checkboxes, then click the delete button that appears at the top of the table.

Copy Spec Template
Use this action to create a new template based on an existing one. All details from the source template are copied, including sketches, measurements, and values.
- Click the copy icon next to the template you want to duplicate.
- The Add Spec Template pop-up opens with all details pre-populated from the copied template.
- Update the template name or version as needed.
- Click Save to create the new template.

Export a single specification template as a PDF document for sharing or printing.
- Click the download PDF icon next to the template you want to export.
- A PDF file downloads containing the specification template details and images from the Sketches section.

Download Excel
Export a single specification template as an Excel spreadsheet for editing or offline use.
- Click the download Excel icon next to the template you want to export.
- An
.xlsxfile downloads containing the specification template data without the images from Sketches.
Use this format when you need the measurement data in a spreadsheet for analysis or further editing.

Other Actions
- Filter – Toggle the view between Enabled and Disabled templates.

- Export – Download the full list of spec templates in
.xlsxformat.
- History – Export a change log for auditing or historical review.

Table Flexibility
You can tailor the spec template table to suit your workflow using the following controls:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Sort by Ascending or Descending | Reorder templates alphabetically or by the last modified date. |
| Pin Column | Lock key columns in place for persistent visibility while scrolling. |
| Autosize This Column | Automatically fit the specific column width to its contents. |
| Autosize All Columns | Apply autosizing to all columns. |
| Choose Columns | Show or hide individual table columns for a cleaner view. |
| Reset Columns | Restore the default table layout. |

Tips
- Create master templates: Build base templates for core product types (e.g., T-Shirt Block, Standard Jean Fit) to save time and ensure consistency when creating new styles.
- Use clear versioning: Adopt a clear naming convention for versions (e.g., V1_Initial, V2_FitSample) to track the evolution of a spec and avoid confusion.
- Archive, don't delete: Disable old or unused spec templates instead of deleting them to preserve the historical data of any linked styles.
- Use exports for audits: Download the template list regularly for progress reviews and to track specification updates across your product range.
- Document template purposes: Record the intended use of each template to help team members select the right one when creating new styles.
Troubleshooting
Why is the Measurement section not showing when I edit a template?
Size Scale and Reference Size must be selected before measurement rows appear.
Steps to resolve:
- Open the template for edit
- Choose Size Scale from the dropdown (configured under Site Settings › Style › Size Scales)
- Pick Reference Size, then add measurements
Why do POM labels not match our tech packs?
Free-text POM names should follow your Specification POM library.
Steps to resolve:
- Standardise POM records in Site Settings › Style › Specification POM
- Re-open the template and align POM text to the library naming
Why is my exported Excel missing sketches?
Excel export contains measurement data only, not sketch images, by design.
Steps to resolve:
- Use Download PDF when you need visuals included
- Keep sketches maintained in the Sketches section for PDF output
