Style Create Costing

The Create Costing functionality within the Style module allows users to generate a costing record directly from a style, supporting financial planning and quoting workflows. Costings capture the essential commercial and structural details for manufacturing or purchasing an item. Use it when you need to initiate a cost sheet for the style you are working on so pricing work starts from the correct product context and stays linked to that style.

Add Costing

This feature is accessible via the side widget on a style record. Creating a costing from a style streamlines the workflow by pre-linking the costing to the current style, eliminating the need to manually associate records later. The process is driven by both mandatory and optional fields that must be accurately populated to ensure complete and usable costing records.

Creating a Costing

  1. Click the Create Costing button located in the side widget.
  2. In the pop-up window, complete the required and optional fields as described below.
  3. Click Add to finalise and save the costing.

Field Reference

Field Description
Style Number / Component Number Unique identifier for the item being costed. (Mandatory)
Account Manager Person responsible for managing the costing. (Mandatory)
Template Predefined structure for the costing layout and categories. (Mandatory)
Buy Terms Commercial terms for the purchase (e.g., FOB, CIF). (Mandatory)
Buy Currency The currency used for purchase values. (Mandatory)
Sell Price Price at which the item will be sold. (Optional)
Customer Target customer for the costing. (Optional)
Department Internal department related to the costing. (Optional)
Freight In Any inbound freight costs. (Optional)
Other Costs Additional cost items not categorised elsewhere. (Optional)

Features

Note Description
Replace Associated Style You can delete the associated style and replace it with a different style using the search function. This is only available when replacing it with a single style, not bulk styles. Create Costing
Pre-populated Fields The amount, currency, customer, and department fields are pre-populated based on the style selected. These values can be edited or changed before saving the costing.
Admin Configuration Required

Dropdown fields such as Account Manager, Template, Buy Terms, and Buy Currency are configured in their respective Site Settings. Ensure these are properly set up before creating a costing.

Best Practices

Complete Mandatory Fields: Complete all mandatory fields to avoid validation errors during saving.

Coordinate with Teams: Coordinate template and buy term options with the finance or procurement teams to maintain uniformity across costings.
