Style Update Existing Styles

The Style Import function also supports updating existing style records. This is especially useful for making bulk changes to fields such as Descriptions, Tags, Pricing, eCommerce Details, and more.

To update existing styles, you must use the same import template used for new style creation. The system identifies each record by the Style Number and applies updates only to the fields specified in the import file.

Quick Check - Before You Start
  • Download the same Style Import Template used for new styles and ensure every row to update includes the correct existing Style Number.
  • Fill in only the columns you want to change; leave all other cells blank so existing values are preserved.
  • Confirm updated values still match Site Settings (types, categories, tags, currencies, and similar coded fields).
  • If you plan to change Size Scale, verify the style has no blocking associations (orders, barcode, keycode, or tuncode) as described in the warning on this page.

Steps to Update

  1. Download the Style Import Template used for uploading new styles.
  2. In the template, ensure the Style Number column matches an existing style. This field is mandatory for updates.
  3. Enter values only for the fields you want to update. Leave all other fields blank to retain existing data.
  4. Upload the completed file using the same Import Style pop-up.
  5. Review the import preview window, then click Yes to confirm and apply the updates.
Partial Updates Only

Only fields populated in the spreadsheet will be updated. Blank fields will leave the existing values unchanged.

Note

  • Ensure all field values still align with your Site Settings configuration.
  • This method can also be used to update pricing, tags, sizes, eCommerce content, and more.
  • Review the Import Summary after upload to confirm which rows were updated and if any errors occurred.

Size Scale Update Restrictions

The Size Scale field cannot be updated for existing styles if:

  • The style has Orders associated with it
  • The style has barcode, keycode, or tuncode associated with it

If you attempt to update the Size Scale for a style with these associations, the import will skip the Size Scale update and log this restriction in the Import Summary. The style's Size Scale will remain unchanged.

Troubleshooting

My spreadsheet rows did not update—why would the system skip or ignore them?

Updates are keyed on Style Number. A wrong or missing style number, or values that fail validation against Site Settings, can cause rows to fail or not apply as expected.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Confirm each Style Number in the file matches an existing style in the system.
  2. Check coded fields against the relevant Site Settings lists.
  3. Download and open the Import Summary to see per-row results and error reasons.
I changed Size Scale in the file but it did not update—why?

Size Scale cannot be updated when the style has Orders or when barcode, keycode, or tuncode data is associated with the style. The import skips that change and records it in the Import Summary.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Review the Import Summary for the Size Scale restriction message.
  2. If the scale must change, work with your administrator on data or order implications before adjusting associations or using another approved process.
  3. For other fields, continue using partial updates with blank cells for values you want to keep.
Some fields updated but others look unchanged—did the import fail?

Partial updates only overwrite cells you populate. Blank cells intentionally leave the existing database values in place.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Confirm each field you wanted to change has a new value in the spreadsheet (no accidental blanks).
  2. Re-import if needed and verify results in the Import Summary.
  3. Cross-check Site Settings if a value was rejected despite being filled in.
