Specification
The Specification tab on a shared order in the Supplier Portal is where you review technical product information for the linked style your customer has maintained on the Production Portal. Use it to confirm sketches, reference images, measurement tables, and construction comments against your purchase order and tech pack — without opening a separate style record when the order already carries the specification context you need.
All sections on this tab are view-only. Instance users add and update specification data on the linked style in the Production Portal; the order Specification tab mirrors that data for single-style orders. Use Comments on the order side widget or Chat when you need to ask questions or respond to your customer's team.
Supplier Portal > Order > Specification
Quick Check - Before You Start
- Open the order from Supplier Portal › Orders and confirm the order number and linked style on the Order tab.
- If the Specification tab is missing or a section is empty, ask your instance user to verify the order is shared with your factory or agent, that your Supplier Portal role includes Order View access, and that the order is not a bulk order.
- Cross-check measurement sizes with colourway quantities on Quantity before you cut or measure samples — the Measurements section may not appear until at least one colourway quantity exists on the order.
- When the linked style is also shared with your supplier account, open Supplier Portal › Style › Specification for the full style specification view, including Sizes.
View-Only Access
Sketches, Images, Measurements, and Comments on the order Specification tab are read-only. Instance users maintain specification data on the linked style in the Production Portal. If a sketch, measurement, or tolerance does not match your brief, contact your customer's team through Comments on the order card or Chat.
Sketches
The Sketches section displays technical or fashion sketches your customer has uploaded for the linked style. Sketches help explain construction details, measurement reference points, artwork placement, and design intent.
Supplier Portal > Order > Specification > Sketches
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Sketch images | Visual drawings or annotated images uploaded by instance users on the linked style specification. |
| View options | Switch between small and large icon views to inspect sketches at the level of detail you need. |
Use sketches alongside the Measurements table to understand where each Point of Measurement (POM) should be taken. If a sketch is missing or unclear, ask your instance user to upload an updated reference or check whether a Specification document is available under Documents on the order card — see Supplier Portal › Order.
Images
The Images section shows additional reference or product images your customer has added to the linked style specification. These support tech pack review and give visual context for construction, trims, labels, and measurement points.
Supplier Portal > Order > Specification > Images
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Reference images | Product photos, CADs, artwork references, or other visuals uploaded by instance users. |
| View options | Switch between small and large icon views to review images at a comfortable size. |
Images here are separate from the order Image Preview on the side widget and from files in Files. If you need CADs or tech packs that are not shown in Images, ask your instance user to share them through Files, Documents, or Drive — see Supplier Portal › Drive.
Measurements
The Measurements section displays the garment measurement grid for the linked style. Use it as the source of truth for POM values, tolerances, and grade rules before cutting, measuring samples, or starting bulk production on this order.
The section becomes visible after your customer has added at least one colourway with quantity on the Quantity section of the Order tab. Measurement data itself is maintained on the linked style specification in the Production Portal.
Supplier Portal > Order > Specification > Measurements
Measurement table columns
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| POM | Point of Measurement — the code or label for the measurement point (for example, Chest, Waist, Sleeve Length). |
| Description | A brief explanation of what is being measured at that POM. |
| Size columns | The measurement value for each available size in the grid (for example, S, M, L, XL). |
| Tol + | The acceptable tolerance above the specified measurement. |
| Tol − | The acceptable tolerance below the specified measurement. |
Your customer may also expose a How to Measure column when that option is enabled in their organisation settings. When present, it provides detailed instructions for how each POM should be taken.
Measurement and grade display
Use the display control in the Measurements section toolbar to switch how values are shown:
| Display option | Description |
|---|---|
| Measurement | Shows the actual measurement value for each size. |
| Grade | Shows grade increments between sizes, based on your customer's grade configuration. |
| Both | Shows measurement and grade values together when you need to review fit rules and absolute dimensions in one view. |
Switch views to confirm grade rules match your pattern or sample block before production. Headings and grouped rows your customer has added in the Production Portal appear in the same order here to keep related POMs together.
Confirm Size Scope Before Production
Size columns in the measurement grid reflect sizes enabled on the linked style specification. Compare them with the colourway and size breakup on Quantity to confirm what you are producing on this order. If the brief and the portal data do not align, raise a query in Comments on the order card.
Where Measurement Data Comes From
Instance users maintain specification templates, POMs, measurements, and tolerances on the linked style in the Production Portal. What you see on the order Specification tab reflects the current shared style record — you cannot add, edit, or delete measurement rows from your supplier account.
Comments
The Comments section on the order Specification tab displays construction notes, fit comments, and other specification instructions your customer's instance users have posted on the linked style specification. This section is view-only on the order — you cannot reply, edit, or add new specification comments here.
Supplier Portal > Order > Specification > Comments
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Specification comments | Messages from instance users about sketches, measurements, tolerances, or fit requirements. |
| @ Mentions | When an instance user mentions your supplier account or a colleague in a specification comment, the mention appears in the message text. |
Read specification comments carefully before sampling or bulk production. When you need to respond — for example, to confirm a chest measurement or flag a tolerance concern — use Comments on the order side widget so your message stays attached to the order record. Use Chat for broader production topics that are not tied to a single POM or sketch.
Reply on the Order Card, Not on Specification Comments
People on the order side widget lists your customer's internal instance users — not supplier staff. Specification Comments on this tab are maintained by instance users on the Production Portal. Post your replies in Comments on the order card and @ mention the relevant contact when a tolerance, POM, or sketch needs urgent clarification.
Single-Style Orders
The Specification tab is available on single-style orders. It is not shown on bulk orders. If you need specification detail for a bulk workflow, ask your instance user which per-style or per-order record to use, or open the linked style when it is also shared with your supplier account.
Next Steps
- Review colourway quantities on Quantity
- Fulfil sample requirements on Samples
- Track production milestones on Critical Path
- Confirm materials on Definition
- Open the linked style for the full specification view when it is also shared with your supplier account
- Search and open shared orders
- Download purchase order or specification documents from Documents
- Ask your customer's team about specification changes

These Site Settings pages are maintained by your customer's administrators. Share them with your instance user contact if Specification sections or columns do not match expectations.
Troubleshooting
Why is the Specification tab missing on an order I can otherwise open?
Tab visibility depends on your Supplier Portal role, portal display settings, and the order type. The Specification tab is not available on bulk orders.
Steps to resolve:
- Confirm whether the tab is missing entirely or visible but empty.
- Check whether the order is a bulk order — bulk orders do not expose the Specification tab.
- Ask your instance user to verify your Supplier Portal role in Site Settings › Company › Suppliers includes Order with View enabled.
- Ask them to confirm Specification is included in the supplier portal layout for orders.
- Click Refresh or reopen the order from Activity after your customer confirms updates.
Why are Sketches, Images, or Measurements empty?
Specification content is built and maintained by instance users on the linked style in the Production Portal. An empty section usually means nothing has been added yet, or the style specification template has not been applied.
Steps to resolve:
- Check whether other sections on the tab contain data — for example, Sketches without Measurements may indicate the measurement grid is still being built.
- Confirm at least one colourway quantity exists on Quantity if the Measurements section is missing entirely.
- Ask your instance user to confirm sketches, images, and measurements are saved on the linked style specification in the Production Portal.
- Download Specification from Documents on the order card if your customer has generated a formal document while the online tab is still in progress.
Why is the Measurements section missing when Sketches and Images are visible?
On an order, the Measurements section only appears after your customer has added at least one colourway with quantity on the Order tab. This is separate from whether measurement data exists on the linked style specification.
Steps to resolve:
- Open the Order tab and review Quantity for colourway totals and size breakups.
- Ask your instance user to confirm colourways and quantities are entered on the order in the Production Portal.
- Refresh the order record and return to the Specification tab after quantities are added.
- Open Supplier Portal › Style › Specification when the linked style is shared if you need to review the measurement grid before order quantities are finalised.
Why does a measurement or tolerance not match what my customer sent by email?
Specification data can be updated on the Production Portal after an earlier brief or PDF was sent. The order Specification tab reflects the current linked style record and may not match late changes until your customer updates the style specification.
Steps to resolve:
- Refresh the order record and review Activity for recent specification or quantity changes.
- Compare POM, Description, size values, and tolerance columns with your customer's latest communication.
- Post a Comment on the order card and @ mention the relevant instance user listed under People to confirm the current approved measurements.
Why can I not see every size I expected in the Measurements grid?
Measurement columns only show sizes that are enabled on the linked style specification. Colour-specific size availability is configured separately on the style Colours section and on order Quantity.
Steps to resolve:
- Review the size columns on Measurements and compare them with the size breakup on Quantity for each colourway you are producing.
- Switch the Measurements display between Measurement, Grade, and Both to ensure you are not overlooking grade-only rows.
- Open Supplier Portal › Style › Specification to review Sizes when the linked style is shared.
- Ask your instance user to confirm disabled sizes or size-scale changes on the Production Portal record.
Why can I read specification comments but not reply on the Specification tab?
Comments on the order Specification tab mirror construction and fit notes from the linked style specification. They are read-only on the order by design — instance users maintain them on the Production Portal.
Steps to resolve:
- Post your reply in Comments on the order side widget so it stays attached to the order record.
- @ mention the instance user who posted the specification comment or the contact listed under People on the order card.
- Use Chat if you need to share files or discuss topics not tied to a single order.
